BEFORE I BEGIN my summer blogging I'd like to let everyone know that I'd like your input!
Every one of my friends (and your friends) have an experience, technique, or story to share. LET'S MAKE IT OUR BLOG! Do you know better ways to tighten your tummy for the summer? Get best results with your products? Trick sales people into giving you freebees? More polite ways to say NO? WE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW! Starting next week I'll have a star guest every Wednesday! It can be YOU!!
As I flipped yet another page of my calendar this morning, I realized that in many countries today is the official day of summer. Well, I'm just not quite ready!!! AHA! in the US we have 21 more days to fix things that are summer related. EVERYONE I know complained about extra 5+ Lb, cellulite, not enough/complete absence of tan (unless you are my friend from Palm Springs, Cook Islands or Ecuador), lack of products and inadequate wardrobe. Honey, you are not alone!
SUNBLOCK
Every time I see my dermatologist he tells me that it doesn't matter how expensive my creams are. The most important product is high SPF sunblock. I apply one religiously every morning, even if it rains. It took me forever to find a good one though. Again, more expensive in this case doesn't mean better. Some feel sticky, some curdle, some are too white, too heavy, alter the color of your make-up, stink etc.
I think this one is my first choice. It doesn't smell, goes on clear, and it's about 20 dollars in drugstores.
The best!!
This one is good too. It's more expensive though and has a scent that I dislike.
If I'm under direct sun in the pool I use baby or kid tear-free sunblock on my face. It does make my face white, but I don't care. The alternative is sun spots. Ugly!
Here's new product from Trader Joe's I really like. Works if you have multiple impatient children. Also if there is no one who can "do" your back. it doesn't last too long, but @ $5.99 it's hard to beat.
KID'S STUFF
Is it more expensive to shop with kids. The answer is yes, unless you are able to say "Put it back" and "We don't need that" and "It's really bad for you" and "Stop crying, please" a hundred times. Here are the items I brought home that were not on my list.
Here is my argument! Shop while they are in school or leave them with your spouse!
Total extra money spent : $ 32!

BIG WORD TODAY
SOPHISTICATED-my kids love the sophistication of it!
THREE QUESTIONS
Q from Christina: Is it possible to train your child to sleep through the night by the age of 14 month? My child still wakes up 3 times a night. May be you forgot, Dear Housewife?!
A: Ahh, Christina! How can I forget?! I remember very well each time I've trained my babies-it's not easy for the whole family. All my kids were trained by the age of 6 months and I had my life back!
Here's how you do it (suggested a long time ago by my kids' physician who had twins himself)
Make sure you start a process when you child is healthy, there are no guests in the house and everyone knows the drill. You don't walk into your child's room after the last feeding until the first feeding of the next day. You'll feel like someone is burning your skin with a hot iron the first night. If the 1st night is too tough for you, wait at least 20 minutes before checking on your child. After that, though -no more!
I will never forget the words my mom called me when I wouldn't let her pick up my child. It's usually a process of 3 to 5 days, and then one morning you'll wake up and run to check if your baby is alive because he or she slept through the whole night!
The story is more complicated if your child is a toddler. First of all you have to stop nursing. The best way to do it at this age is for you to go out of town for a week - at 14 months he or she knows your schedule very well! The person in charge is not allowed to give any food at night. Good luck Tomas! If all fails you can always mail Ilias to me!!
Q from Maria: Why the blog? Are you not busy enough already?
A: I am busy, all- right. As you know!
Consider it a labour of love! There is nothing better I know then being a mom and a wife. I wish there was a Housewife like me when I had my babies! So
don't be shy to ask me anything! There is way more to being a good mother and a wife, as you will soon find out! Was cool to see you and your adorable baby this morning!!
Here is an interesting question. I'll have to put it in my own words. I had to read it twice to understand since Ms. Zavia is using very sophisticated and victorian (I swoon, I swoon) vocabulary.
Q from Zavia: I understand that wearing a bra is necessary while at work, state dinners, Martha Stewart appearances etc. I like wearing my t-shirts without a bra. When is is appropriate? And what about the cookies?
A: What an excellent question! You are not alone! My tennis teacher (female) and I always joke about it when it gets a bit cooler at our courts. So it is appropriate, not to mention more comfortable if you are doing sports with your girlfriends. Cookies are appreciated by your partner if you are home alone with him - it usually means that you are excited about him or you are too cold and it's time to cuddle.
Not a good idea if you are meeting your girlfriend's boyfriend for the first time (or any time), or you mother-in-law to be. However, there are a few tricks you can use and go braless anyway.
LILY PADZ
Those silicone pads will change your life! I first bought them @ the maternity store as nursing pads. The are wonderful to hide cookies and they are reusable!
I'm sure u know what those are. They are disposable.
B-Curve Transparent tape. If you need a little lift without a bra.
And that is if you need both!
P.S. Dear Ms. Zavia! I think you should write a book or a script! You definitely have a huge talent and you are very funny! At the Very least, keep contributing!
